Getting to Know . . . Linda Hill, Assistant Librarian

Please introduce yourself. What is your role at the library? How long have you been associated with the library?

My name is Linda Hill and I am the Assistant Director at the Library. I’ve worked here since March of 2011, but have been a patron since October of 2002.

What is your favorite thing about the library?

I love that I have access to over 9 million items through interlibrary loan! My favorite part of my job is planning and running story times and special events with kids.

What is your favorite book, author or series? Why?

Probably The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett (or anything by Jane Austen, Anthony Trollope, or D. E. Stevenson). They are my favorites partly because of the beautiful writing, partly because they are all so good at making their characters leap off the page, and partly because they write with depth and underlying meaning. Also, anything about English History.

What have you been reading/watching/listening to lately?

📚I just finished reading The Ark, by Margot Benary-Isbert. Best book I’ve read lately is The Chosen, by Chaim Potok.

📺I’m not much of a TV watcher.

🎧I am listening to “The Brandons” by Angela Thirkell on Hoopla.

What is one fun fact about you?

I’m a thrift-store junkie.

What is your favorite color?

Red

What is your favorite item that the library circulates?

Books! I am particularly excited about Junior Graphic Novels, because they seem to start non-reading kids on the path to becoming readers.
